A Recap of Our 9th Macramé Stall at Shriram Surabhi Apartments

The Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations at Shriram Surabhi apartments began with my discovery of an opportunity in a small business group. Eagerly, when I reached out, I learned that they were looking for organizers who could arrange a complete market setup. I helped them connect with the organizers of my previous collaboration. This secured me a stall with a separate canopy and a reference discount.

As we set up the stall, the initial slow pace and minimal footfall were evident. However, as the day unfolded, so did the crowd. Although sales only covered the stall costs(thanks to the referral discount; otherwise I wouldn't have been able to cover even that), the day became special through heartwarming interactions with visitors.

A beautiful moment came with a young boy passionate about cooking, choosing a kitchen set. His family's support in letting him express himself was truly commendable.

Another touching encounter involved an 81-year-old man seeking a special gift for his 11-year-old grandson in Odisha. Unfortunately, I did not have anything that met the need, but it led to a heartfelt conversation about life and interests.

It felt immense joy as I received compliments from individuals of all age groups appreciating my work. In particular, two elderly ladies who expressed that they found my creations very creative. Their kind words not only warmed my heart but also reinforced the gratification that comes with sharing one's passion and craftsmanship.

I took the initiative to introduce myself to a stall owner I had encountered in previous events. This connection led to an introduction to a fellow business owner who was setting up a stall for the first time. While offering words of encouragement regarding the low footfall and sales, the conversation not only motivated her but also left me inspired. It triggered contemplation about exploring new opportunities beyond macramé. These interactions added depth to the day, compensating for the modest sales.

Drawing from my past experiences, I had come prepared with a few threads and lobster hooks, just in case I found a moment to create. The relatively sparse crowd provided me with the luxury of sitting down and crafting a couple of key tags. The crafting session not only kept me occupied but also served as a delightful moment of artistic expression amidst the event.

In the evening, as the breeze picked up, I started feeling really cold. Given the proximity of this apartment to ours, my husband went back home and brought me a warm jacket and a pair of socks. This incident served as a reminder for me to carry such essentials in all the events I participate in during winter, including a mosquito repellent.

We snacked on some delicious Mulbagilu Dose and bajji from the food counters. Additionally, I treated myself to a charming mobile charm inscribed with the word 'Dream'—a constant reminder to keep dreaming and aspire for even greater heights.

Despite the slow sales, the day concluded on a high note as we returned to our apartment for the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations. Enjoying a delightful time at the orchestra and savoring finger-licking delicacies of the state, we reflected on the day's experiences, cherishing the connections made and pondering potential new avenues ahead.
