I recently had the pleasure of conducting a 'Knot Series' macramé program for a relative of mine. She messaged me on Instagram expressing her keen interest in learning this beautiful art form. I shared with her the different options we offer, and she chose our 'Knot Series' program, which is a virtual one.
The 'Knot Series' program consists of four classes, each lasting 1.5 to 2 hours, focusing on creating different macramé products. Our journey began with crafting a macramé tag in the first session, followed by making a coaster in the second. In the third, we created a mini wall hanging, and in the final class, we knotted a plant hanger. After each session, she proudly sent me pictures of her completed pieces, showing her growing skills and enthusiasm for the craft.
During one of the sessions, I asked her what made her choose to learn macramé. She said it was her first time trying it, and now that her kids are focused on their education, she has some time on her hands for herself. She wanted to learn something new and creative to fill her spare time. I was very happy to hear this.
At the end, I shared with her small video clips of the different basic knots we learned during the sessions. She asked if I could also share the measurements we used to create the different products in written form. I was happy to send it her way and plan to do this for future 'Knot Series' sessions as well. Thanks to her for the idea. I am eager to see what different projects she will create.
It's wonderful to see individuals investing their time in developing new skills. Taking time out of our busy schedules or monotonous routines to focus on something that allows us to be ourselves and unwind is essential. Learning macramé enhances our creativity and fine motor skills while fostering mindfulness, resulting in beautiful, handmade pieces that add a personal touch to our space.
I would be delighted to share my love for macramé with you. If you are interested in experiencing the beauty of knotting, feel free to reach out, and we can start on our Knot Series.
