Reflections on the 7th Macramé Pop-Up Stall: Karnataka Rajyotsava Special

As a passionate macramé enthusiast and business owner, each pop-up stall becomes a unique adventure. The recent event on November 1st at Sobha Hill View apartments in Bangalore was no exception. With the backdrop of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, the day promised a vibrant gathering and potential footfall, amplified by the grand entry of families in traditional attire and Ambassador cars.

Approaching the day with optimism, my first customer was a lady who adored the Channapatna wooden products, eventually purchasing a cute little toy train. I found a reflection of my passion in her admiration for these products.

Children, as always, create an air of joy and wonder to the Knot Square stall. Their genuine appreciation and curiosity never fail to light up the space. One instance stood out when a young girl, strictly limited to her last purchase of the day, chose a key tag from my stall over an alternative item. Later, she returned with friends, each eagerly deciding their favorites. The sheer joy in their eyes and the little one's heartfelt declaration of love for my work truly made my day.

Conversations with fellow stall owners unveiled the heartfelt stories behind their displays. Witnessing a stall owner juggling business responsibilities while helping her child with studies was a touching reminder of the untold efforts behind each display. The dedication and sacrifices were immeasurable.

We also had fellow small business owners purchasing from each other. While I eyed many things, I ended up purchasing a pair of gorgeous crochet candle holders, plantable pencils, a neemwood comb and a bamboo brush.

Yet, despite these beautiful moments, a lingering feeling of dissatisfaction remained. The overall sales was significantly lower than anticipated, and the expected footfall was absent. Nevertheless, the genuine interactions, heartfelt connections, and the overall experience continue to shape Knot Square's journey. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my craft and engage with a wonderful community.

Until the next stall experience, I eagerly await the chance to create, connect, and learn more.

With knots of love,

-Archana Harish
