Last weekend, we had initially planned a macramé workshop experience and a stall at SOCIAL, Indiranagar. However, due to a lack of pre-enrollments, the event's postponement initially demotivated me. Nevertheless, I prepared myself as the stall was still scheduled to proceed.
As we left, I checked the map and realized I might be running late. After informing the organizer about the potential delay, we faced heavy rain to reach the venue.
Upon arrival, I saw that the space was already occupied by three other talented small business owners. While we tried to fit my products into the available space, luck favored me with a table at the entrance. Quickly, I shifted to the front, accommodating the other artists' products as well, helping them gain better visibility. In doing so, I found myself representing their works as they managed their stalls inside. Understanding the importance of engaging customers, I politely introduced them to our collective creations.
During a moment, I found myself comparing my work to that of the other makers, which made me doubt my own. However, I soon realized that every art form is unique, carrying its own value and beauty. A moment of validation arose when a very sweet customer named Anjana was instantly drawn to my key tag and made a purchase. This reaffirmed the significance of every customer's support for a maker, boosting my confidence.
Moreover, whenever we attend similar setups, we often notice that the staff of the place is fascinated by our stall. Here too, a few staff members were very curious and explored our products. One of them, inspired by the beautiful creations, crafted her own paper creation resembling a fountain. In a lighthearted moment, she jokingly showed it to me, asking if I could sell it for her. I offered to purchase it myself and she seemed very happy.
I also got the opportunity to collaborate with fellow creators on a fun Instagram reel. The day concluded with the simple joy of relishing Pani Puri, each bite marking the end of the day on a content note.
Reflecting on the event, I continue to ponder whether the unique charm of my products specially the wooden ones goes with the dynamic environment of a pub. However, the day's experiences emphasized the diversity of challenges that makers encounter and the importance of treasuring small, significant moments as an integral part of our creative journey.
